Why PETA is Hilarious

So as a college student, I built up quite a bit of animosity towards PETA, due to their incessant invading of the campus, holding clipboards, shaking signs and generally making a nuisance of themselves. Since graduation, however, I have learned to not take them seriously, and treat them like the giant joke that they are.

This week Obama killed a fly. That takes some pretty sweet hand-eye coordination, for sure. Maybe Obama is a gamer? Dunno. Regardless, PETA predictably announced their “regret” that Obama killed the fly, a response which, of course, has the rest of the world in stitches. Swatting a fly is not cruel. The fly dies instantly. It probably does not feel pain. Forcing Obama to be harassed by a fly is, I think, the more cruel option between the two.
I’ve thought about it, and here is the best way to respond:
Publish a Recording of Fly Torture
- Find a fly.
- Find some tweezers.
- Find a webcam.
- Record yourself plucking the wings off of the fly.
- Slowly crush the fly.
Now, some might ask, what exactly will this accomplish? Eh… not much. But maybe, just maybe, it will teach PETA to stop complaining about nothing. It will also show them exactly what non-compassionate fly execution looks like, and why, in the end, no one cares or should care. I mean come on. They’re flies. What, is PETA going to insist we start calling them “Air Kittens”? Or maybe “Used-to-be-maggots-in-some-decaying-slime Kittens”? Oh, I know, “Could-possibly-give-you-malaria Kittens”? Yeah, that’s it. Has a certain ring to it.
I think the most frustrating thing for an organization like PETA is for people to not take them seriously. If you get angry and write long-winded blog posts about them (wait…) I think all this does is give them press and reaffirm their own conviction. But if you just laugh at them as the inside joke that everyone gets, I think it is the only thing that can truly boil their blood.
So PETA, keep finding stupid, inane things to throw a fit about, and the Internet will be a funnier place.

PETA has irked me for the longest time. In high school me and a friend made a website called Puppy Assassins just to piss them off.
They’re mad at the president for killing a fly? The fly was just going to die within the next day or two anyways.
Plus, they also want the band Phish to change their name.

Oh, wait, we are talking different PETAs here, oh well. They are kinda ridiculous, especially their latest request to Phish for them to change their name to “Sea Kittens”. I am assuming that is what the whole fly name thing is about?
Hey–found this entry on Twitter and had to laugh because I blogged about the exact same thing at almost the exact same time. PETA are a bunch of lunatics who make sane animal rights advocates look bad, and it’s a shame.

They are defending something that lasts 24 hours at best? What next, punish frogs for eating them? I guarantee they killed more bugs by walking to work or protests than Obama did just trying to do his job.
PETA are morons as an example they told furries to not wear real fur at furcons already there they got the info wrong furs love animals and would never wear real fur. and i wonder where PETA got the blood they threw at her from
Well i dont know whats going on here really cos you all seem to have something thats misssing. PETE ever since it has been founded it has acted towards safe guarding animal right and it tries to put forward the message that animals have feelings too and they hurt as much as we do. so if you think that shaving animals alive is ”nothing” to you then im sorry to say that you must have either never felt pain at all or else your lacking somethng called a brain. Have you ever looked into PETA’s website before talking all this nonsense abut an organisation taht only makes things better for defense less animals? If you have nt then you might want to consider taking a look and if you dont find them videos and images revolting then please ignore anything i said, ignore peta alltogether and keep on living your usual life, because if you are not moved by such images then there really is something missing in ”there”. However if you do feel any remorse for those poor animals that are treated like rubbish regardless of the endless pain they go through then you might consider joining PETA in its effort towards giving a brighter future to animals something different from living in tiny cages full of feaces, then there are the infections and sickness that are never cured and then death oh yeah finally death but not even that is a relief. Death for such animals is the fulcrum of it all the worst torture available and for what? just to become a coat or a Mc donalds chicken nugget wow. But yeah maybe all this amuses you and if it does hahaah poor you!!! inside your skin you must feel really really SAD. I am sorry for being a bit harsh but whats this compared to what animals suffer ehh?

D: wow. i cant help but think your a hyppocrite though. i mean, your supporting an organisation that has nothing better to do then throw buckets of blood of people who wear fur, criticize a game company for not making a vegan cooking game, and then harass the president of the united states for swatting a fly. ITS A FLY. GET OVER IT.That seems pretty sad to me. So, if you would be so kind, get a life and if you dont like people who arent vegans then dont associate with them. For ordinary people, swatting a fly is nothing. But if its Pres. Obama doing it on national t.v. using his bare hand, with all the germs on the fly, while on an interview – uhmm, I’m speechless.
Maybe some people has a point fot liking what the president did.. is it PETA perhaps?
